Scopely is looking for an Associate Game Designer to join our new unannounced project in Barcelona, Spain, on a hybrid basis, working 3 days a week from the hub.

What You Will Do
We are looking for an Associate Designer that is eager to design, develop, and deliver top quality features and economy models for our new unannounced cross-platform strategy/MMO title. You will write feature design documentation, defining systems that can support a live game model, and balancing economies to scale.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, Art, Analytics, LiveOps and QA to bring compelling features from concept to release
- Write and update design specs that contain the right level of detail while staying concise and easy to understand for the whole team
- Drive feature optimizations to maintain gameplay quality, improve balance, and boost player engagement (levels & puzzles, battle pass, weekly and daily challenges, etc.)
- Keep a Design Owner mentality, ensuring designs meet the player’s needs, the franchise strategy and the business goals
- Follow the most recent market trends and best practices to create the best possible designs for our roadmap features, and to bring new ideas to the table
- Work closely with senior-level economy and systems designers to craft world-class gameplay and deliver a balanced play experience
- Define solutions within a defined space and identify high ROI improvement opportunities
- Design for scale: plan for long-term content extensibility and system health
What We're Looking For
- A deep passion for game systems and mechanics across mobile and PC
- 0-2 years of experience designing game systems or balancing game economies
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to gather feedback, align stakeholders, and iterate collaboratively
- Passion for playing and analyzing games across multiple genres and platforms
- Comfortable working independently while thriving in a highly collaborative environment
- Basic understanding of free-to-play monetization mechanics including game balancing and virtual economy managemen
Bonus Points
- Love for strategy games such as 4X or RTS games
- Experience with mobile game systems and design sensibilities
